Ms Sherri Riley has this week!

Ms. Sherri Riley adopted your children this week! Yesterday she had homemade muffins and Alex said that they were wonderful. They are really enjoying their goodies.
I hope that none of you have the flu yet. Alex has been taking vitamin C so that might be a good idea. I know that they have the hand sanitizer in the classrooms this year.
Friday night the football team travels to Lake City to whip up on Carolina Academy. Im sure that they would like your support at the game. Next Friday night is the last home game and so it will be Senior Night.
We have only two weeks adopted for the month of October. Ms. Burns has the week of October 19 and Ms. Pat Berry has October 26.

Homecoming a big success!

The homecoming game started out a little drippy! The game was delayed due to lightening and thunder. (not spiller and Davis for all you clemson fans!) Our homecoming court was escorted onto the field and just let me say that I was so proud of them. They had smiles on their faces under unbrellas and in rainbows. Some of the girls were escorted by fathers, grandfathers, brothers and boyfriends. I cant believe that they are all seniors and ready to graduate. Nicole Brown was crowned maid of honor and Mae Ann Webb was Crowned 2009 homecoming queen. The football team played a good game and won. Beat the rival team of Richard Winn! Yeah. All of the students and guests that went to the dance afterward had a really good time I understand. I know alex and lyndsey did. They didn't get back to Gran Mommys house till 1:30am. Had to go to Waffle House to eat. Bruce Horne was the DJ and I think they really enjoyed his choice of music except some of the songs were a little long.
The Cheerleaders had a run through banner that they put inside because of the amount of work it took to complete. They were not about to let it get ruined. Mary Nell is going to email some pictures of it so that I can post it.
I know that Alex had a really good time this week with all of the wonderful treats that Ms Lisa Long provided. Katy mentioned to me at the ball game that she was really enjoying their treats. I am so glad that the parents are doing this.Ms Sherri Riley is taken on the adoptive duties for the coming week and I know that she will have a fun week planned for the "SILLY string gang" and all of the other seniors.
Well if any one has anything special just let me know and I will put it in the blog. I am so glad that some of you are reading it.
Alex Lindsey and Shelby took advantage of the USC open house today. We had a really informative and good time touring the campus and a few of the dorms. Any college that the students choose will take some getting use to. They are use to such a close knit family of students and a small school.

Class is really enjoying their treats.

Thanks to Ms. Lisa Long. She is really doing a great job this week as the adoptive parent.
She put up a flyer for each day letting the class know when and where their treats were going to be. She is already at school so this works really great for her. Ms. Long chose this week because it is Nicks birthday week so happy birthday to Nick.
In case yall didnt know it, Homecoming is this friday night at the school. This year they are doing something different. The cheerleaders have passed out twin sheets for each class to create homecoming banners. It seems to be going really good and the classes are really liking the getting involved mentality. Come out to the ball game and cheer the team on.

Please comment if you'd Like...

You can go on and post your comments if you would like to. Post comments to us about what you like or dislike. THis is your seniors year. Lets make it a good one...
The WKA Senior year is off to a rapid start. This years grade parents are Patty Mappus and Judy Haynes. They will make great grade parents because they are already planning the prom and senior day.
The senior parents that could meet did so before the home football game two weeks ago in the gym. Patty and Judy discussed some of their ideas and asked for some as well. They had sign up sheets for the Harvest Carnival as well as parents open house and baccalareate parents drop in.
We are going to do something a little different this year. A parent is adopting a week out of the year to treat the students. Not much but just to let them know that their year is going to be something special. I had the first week which was labor day week and Tuesday got off to a rocky start. I sent Monkey bread with Alex and it was eaten at 10 minute break. There was some distrubance and trash left out by the drink machines and needless to say the cafeteria personel was ticked. So when the treats are sent with the students it is that students responsibility to make sure that the area is clean and policed up. Dont want to be upsetting the cafeteria ladies. The next day their treat was tootsie pops and then a senior year sheet cake and friday ended with vanilla wafers with pnut butter dipped in dark chocolate.
I think they enjoyed it.
This week Robin Griffith, erics mom has the adoptive duties and she started the week with cheesecake squares. Yum! Next week the duties belong to Lisa Long because it is Nicks birthday week.
I am going to try to post some things to the blog just to keep parents up to date with any thing that I know. (which genenerally is not a whole lot) If any of you have any ideas of pictures then send them to me by email at marilynbl@yahoo.com.
Just an answer to a question before it is asked. No you do not get to beat them just because you adopt em even though most of em need it!
